Camp Counselor

 
 

Serve as leader to campers in assigned group. Report to the Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school graduate, some college preferred
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp or other children's program setting
  • Ability to work with others in a team atmosphere

Responsibilities

  • Reside in cabin/tent with assigned group
  • Supervise and serve as role model for group of campers  
  • Ensure that assigned campers arrive at scheduled program activities
  • Accompany groups to all activities
  • Participate in program planning and group activities as required
  • Provide supervision and participate during swimming periods as assigned by the Waterfront Director
  • Develop and prepare engaging activities for campers in group (especially for rainy days and free periods)
  • Submit accident/incident reports as required
  • Report all illnesses and injuries to Medical Director immediately
  • Supervise and assist in clean-up of cabins/tents
  • Complete camper evaluation of each camper supervised at the end of each session
  • Other tasks as necessary

General Camp Responsibilities

  • Provide for the health and safety of all campers
  • Ensure camper and staff care of camp property and cleanliness
  • Attend staff orientation and pre-session staff meetings
  • Assist in clean-up of dining hall after each meal
  • Supervise campers during "night dorm" as scheduled
  • Provide breaks for other counselors/activity leaders as scheduled
  • Participate in camp closing and end of season inventory
  • Other tasks as necessary
