Activity Leader - Recreation

Plan and organize sports and recreational activities for campers. Report to the Program Director.
Qualifications
Minimum of 19 years of age
High school graduate, some college preferred
Previous experience working at a sports/recreation program with children and/or youth
Previous experience working with children in a camp or other children's program setting
Ability to work with others in a team atmosphere
Responsibilities
Plans and leads all recreational activities for camper groups
Maintains recreation/sports areas of camp
Orders supplies/materials and maintains inventory during program
Ensure the safety and health of all campers during activities (along with supervising counselor)
Participates in overall program planning and group activities as required
Assists in preparation of activities and games for carnival events, Olympics and other special events
Accompanies group on all special activities
Assist in completion of camper evaluations (as necessary)
Develop and prepare engaging activities for campers in group (especially for rainy days and free periods)
Submit accident/incident reports as required
Report all illnesses and injuries to Medical Director immediately
Other tasks as necessary
General Camp Responsibilities
Serve as leader and role model for campers
Provide for the health and safety of all campers
Ensure camper and staff care of camp property and cleanliness
Attend staff orientation and pre-session staff meetings
Assist in clean-up of dining hall after each meal
Supervise campers during "night dorm" as scheduled
Provide breaks for other counselors/activity leaders as scheduled
Participate in camp closing and end of season inventory
Serve as chaperone for camper travel from NYC to camp
Other tasks as necessary
