Program Coordinator

 
 

Play the lead role in the development and implementation of the Olmsted Summer Camp Program. Reports to the Camp Director and Associate Executive Director of UMCS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree; 
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience;
  • Previous experience working with children; and
  • Previous experience working at a sleep-away camp program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all camp programs and activities (including Sunday worship, daily reflection, flag raising/lowering, table graces, discussions, etc.);
  • Develop themes for all camper sessions;
  • Ensure that camp activities are consistent with the theme for the session;
  • Serve as the immediate supervisor for all program staff (activity leaders, lifeguards);
  • Serve as mentor, leader and resource person for staff;    
  • Prepare schedules for each of the activity leader groups;
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee camper performances and evening programs;
  • Assist in the preparation of the staff orientation schedule;
  • Submit accident/incident reports as required to Camp Director and UMCS staff;
  • Complete (in consultation with the Camp Director) evaluations on all program staff;
  • Review and revise program themes and activities as necessary; 
  • Assist the Camp Director with administrative and program duties as necessary;
  • Serve as lead person for the camp in the absence of the Camp Director;
  • Report all property damage to the Camp Director and UMCS staff;
  • Attend workshops and training sessions to keep current on camp practice and programming; 
  • Other tasks as assigned.

General Camp Responsibilities

  • Serve as role model and leader for campers and staff
  • Provide for the health and safety of all campers
  • Ensure camper and staff care of camp property and cleanliness
  • Attend staff orientation and pre-session staff meetings
  • Assist in clean-up of dining hall after each meal
  • Supervise campers during "night dorm" as scheduled
  • Provide breaks for other counselors/activity leaders as scheduled
  • Participate in camp closing and end of season inventory
  • Other tasks as necessary
