Volunteering at Olmsted

Are you looking for a place to use your skills to make a difference? Do you love fresh mountain air and beautiful views? Camp Olmsted can always use volunteers before, during and after camp. This is a great opportunity for high school students looking for community service or adults looking to put something back into the community.

Activity Leader – Creative Center

Plan and organize activities for campers in the creative. Report to the Program Coordinator.

 
 

Activity Leader - Hobby Hut

Plan and organize arts and crafts activities for campers and provide creative support for camper performances. Report to the Program Coordinator.

 
 

Activity Leader - Recreation

Plan and organize sports and recreational activities for campers. Report to the Program Coordinator.

 
 

Camp Counselor

Serve as leader to campers in assigned group. Report to the Program Coordinator.

 
 

Lifeguard

Assist Pool Director in planning and organizing swim lessons for campers and provide supervision in accordance with American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Orange County (NY) Department of Health Guidelines

 
 

Program Coordinator

Play the lead role in the development and implementation of the Olmsted Summer Camp Program. Reports to the Camp Director and Associate Executive Director of UMCS.

 
 
 

Kitchen Help

Provide cleaning and support services in kitchen and dining room. Reports to the Head Cook.

 
 

About Camp Olmsted

Camp Olmsted is located in Cornwall on Hudson, NY which is approximately 60 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. Camp Olmsted has been serving children since 1901 and currently offers residential and day summer programs for youth ages 6 to 14 years. During our programs campers are able to enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities such as swimming, sports, hiking, art, performances and ropes challenge course activities.  These activities are designed to build campers self-esteem and enhance their social skills. Our program and facilities are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Department of Health.

Please note these are seasonal positons starting in June and ending on August 11th. The persons in these positions must live on site at the camp in Cornwall on Hudson.
